After a dramatic win over the New York Giants last week, the Dallas Cowboys are back in action Sunday afternoon as they travel to Chicago to take on the Bears. With the Cowboys sitting at 1-1 and the Bears at 0-2, both teams desperately need a win this week. Before the two teams square off, here are three bold predictions for the matchup.
1) Dak Prescott continues to impress, tossing four touchdown passes
Through the first two games of the season, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has looked like the guy we saw back in 2023. The 32-year-old leads the league with nine big-time throws and is second in the NFL in passing grade, via Pro Football Focus.
Prescott also ranks in the top 10 in the league in EPA/Play and EPA+CPOE. The veteran has shown impressive pocket mobility and command of the offense, looking every bit like the player we saw finish second in MVP voting just two seasons ago.
This week, Prescott gets an extremely favorable matchup against a struggling Bears defense. Two games in, Chicago has allowed the most points (79), passing touchdowns (7), and NY/A (9.2) in the league. To make matters worse, Chicago’s defense will be without its two top corners, Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson (out for the season), in this game.
With Prescott playing the way he is, Dallas’ offense should have no problem moving the football on Sunday. The Cowboys and their signal-caller keep rolling, as Prescott throws four touchdown passes, putting together another great effort.
2) Rome Odunze continues his hot start, recording 125 receiving yards for the second-straight week
Not much has gone right for the Bears in the first two games, but one bright spot has been the performance of second-year wideout Rome Odunze. After a slightly disappointing rookie year, the former first-round pick has gotten off to an excellent start in 2025, recording 13 catches for 165 yards and three touchdowns in two games this season.
Bears’ quarterback Caleb Williams seems to have developed a good connection with Odunze, something very important with a young quarterback and receiver duo. The development of the talented receiver will likely play a large part in how good Chicago’s offense will end up being.
This week, Odunze has another chance to feast, going up against a Cowboys secondary that was embarrassingly bad last Sunday. Dallas’ defense had multiple coverage busts on the backend against the Giants last week. If that happens again this Sunday, Odunze is a perfect candidate to take advantage in a big way
The young wide receiver continues his hot start, torching Dallas’ defense for some big plays and recording 125 or more receiving yards for the second-straight week.
3) Hunter Luepke records the first receiving touchdown of his NFL career
Just a day before the Cowboys opened their 2025 season against the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas extended the contract of their fullback, Hunter Luepke. The 25-year-old, who saw his role in the offense greatly increase last season, signed a two-year deal worth up to $7.5 million.
After this news dropped, many figured Luepke would have an even more significant role in Dallas’ offense this upcoming season. So far, that has not been the case. The fullback is yet to touch the ball on offense this season, playing just 22 snaps in Dallas’ two games.
This week, Dallas will need some extra physicality on offense in a big spot, and they’ll turn to their fullback to bring it. Luepke hauls in a touchdown pass from Dak Prescott late in the fourth quarter, giving the Cowboys the lead and propelling them to a win.
