Nick Harris: Five players who must take the next step for the Dallas Cowboys :: Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Brandin Cooks isn’t the only Cowboy who needs to find an extra gear. Rico Dowdle is missing a chance to establish the RB room’s real identity. Cowboys have obvious roster cut to make right after Giants game and it should’ve happened in August :: A to Z Sports
Cornerback Andrew Booth started in Week 4, but was such a liability on the field trying to cover Malik Nabers that he was benched by the third quarter in favor of a practice squadder who went on to seal the win with his late-game interception. With DaRon Bland headed back soon, Booth can likely be cut loose without a second thought.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb fined over $20,000 for this heady play :: Cowboys Wire
Lamb will be docked $22,511 for unnecessary roughness- specifically, improper use of his helmet. The receiver collided head-on with Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton at the end of a first-quarter catch-and run just before the ill-fated fumble that sent him into a tailspin for the rest of the game. The play did not even draw a penalty flag from the on-field officials. Week 3 was an expensive one for 34 players; the league imposed fines totaling over $394,000 and even issued a one-game suspension.

After star cornerback Trevon Diggs went down and then left the field with trainers for the locker room, cameras quickly focused on Trevon’s seven-year-old son Aaiden in the stands, looking on in obvious distress. Thankfully, Trevon had only cramped up and was able to return after taking some fluids.
DeAndre Hopkins headlines 5 AFC South trade targets Cowboys must ask about before NFL deadline :: Cowboys Wire
If the Joneses elect to go shopping for midseason reinforcements, the AFC South has some prime targets. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (Titans) is dealing with another underdeveloped quarterback and would be a big upgrade at WR2 for the Cowboys. Either of the Jaguars’ running backs- Travis Etienne or D’Ernest Johnson- could help the current committee in Dallas. Defensively, the team could look to Indianapolis and make an offer on DT Taven Bryan or DE Dayo Odeyingbo.
Amari Cooper headlines 5 AFC North trade targets Cowboys must ask about before NFL deadline :: Cowboys Wire
Plenty of Cowboys fans have already wondered about a reunion with Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper, but the AFC North has other trade candidates, too. Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins is on the franchise tag and would therefore come at a price, but consider Bengals defenders Trey Hendrickson and BJ Hill as well. Cleveland defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson would solidify the interior of Mike Zimmer’s unit.
What are the Top 10 front offices in NFL? Here’s how 40 executives and coaches voted :: The Athletic
Having the most visible front office in the league doesn’t necessarily translate to having the best front office. In a poll where 40 league insiders ranked their top five NFL front offices, the Cowboys are nowhere to be found in the top 10. (The top three, starting at the top: Baltimore, Kansas City, San Francisco.) Dallas appeared on exactly one ballot, receiving a single first-place vote.
